State Fair Masters Championship
The Masters Tournament was primarily created in response to the revised men's reduced field size and format change. This NCGA Point Event is open to men age 35 to 54 with a handicap index of 7.2 or less. It is conducted at the Bing Maloney Golf Course in south Sacramento over all three days of Labor Day weekend. The format is 54-hole stroke play for up to 144 players with a cut after 36 holes to approximately 30% of the field & ties. The Tournament Director, Sean Wong can be reached at 916.393.1868.
State Fair Senior Championship
The State Fair Seniors Championship was awarded National Golfweek Points for 2005. Held since 1997, the Senior Tournament is conducted at the Mather Golf Course east of Sacramento in Mather (4103 Eagles Nest Rd). The State Fair Senior will be three days (Saturday, Sunday & Monday) on Labor Day weekend. Upgraded by the NCGA in 2004 to 150 points for the Champion, the State Fair Senior is open to amateur men ages 55 and over with a handicap index of 7.2 or under. State Fair Women's Championship
Held since 1996, the Women's Tournament is conducted at the Bartley Cavanaugh Golf Course in southwest Sacramento (8301 Freeport Blvd) on the Saturday & Sunday of Labor Day weekend. The event is open to all women with a handicap index of 34.6 or less. Contestants vie for low gross and low net titles. The Tournament Director, Shirley Johnson, can be reached at 916.455.0590.
State Fair Handicap Championship
Held since 1965, the Handicap Tournament is conducted at the Ancil Hoffman golf course in Carmichael (6700 Tarshes Dr). The event is open to all non-junior men with a handicap index exceeding 3.9. Players with handicaps exceeding 20 are encouraged to play, but will play at a maximum course handicap of 20. The format is 54-hole stroke play for 144 players in 4 flights on Labor Day weekend (Saturday, Sunday and Monday) with the field cut in half for Monday. State Fair Junior Championship
Since 1998, the Junior Tournament has been held at the Haggin Oaks Golf Complex. The tournament is scheduled for Saturday, August 23rd, 2008 and open to boys & girls age 17 & under with no handicap restrictions. Those 11 and under compete over 9-holes on the Arcade course while those age 12 to 17 play 18-holes on the MacKenzie course. This JGANC Premiere Point Event receives almost twice as many entries as can be accommodated. Entries are accepted no earlier than July 15th and about 210 spots are filled by draw.
